This is a controversial topic, not least because latest NICE Fertility treatment guidelines favour the use of IVF for patients with unexplained infertility. NICE changed its view in 2013 more because of a lack of data than for any other reason. However, more recently a number of national and international studies and trials have provided this missing data and have demonstrated the value of using simpler forms of treatment rather than immediately resorting to high complexity IVF.
