NUH Life hosts GP training session

The NUH Life team were thrilled to provide a fertility education session for 180 GP Speciality Trainees from across Nottinghamshire recently. Dr Shilpa Deb, Lorraine Peabody and Jo Salter from our medical, nursing and lab teams, each presented an update from their specialist areas, covering:

  • Fertility in primary care
  • Funding, pathways and referrals
  • Patient support
  • Andrology services
  • Sperm donation and the sperm donor bank
  • Fertility treatments including ovulation induction (OI), intrauterine insemination (IUI), donor insemination (DI) and IVF

From patient and GP feedback, we know that the referral process is often one of the most challenging times in a patient’s fertility journey. This event was part of our ongoing outreach work to improve awareness of fertility funding, pathways, services and referral processes for Nottinghamshire GPs and sits alongside the regular online and in person open events we host at the clinic.

It was a fantastic event that could have gone on for much longer, we had so many questions! We were delighted to see how engaged and interested the GP Trainees were, with everyone working together towards the best possible care for fertility patients.

If you’re a GP, or a patient, and are interested to know more about what NUH Life has to offer, we have upcoming dates for our open evenings in Spring 2025. See our Open evenings page to register your interest.

We look forward to the GP Trainee event becoming an annual fixture in our calendar.
